I am running a trial of eXtyles

If eXtyles informs you that your license has expired, please contact eXtyles-support@inera.com to discuss the terms and expiration date of your eXtyles trial.


I am using a hardware key license

If you are using a hardware key (or HASP) license for eXtyles, please confirm that the red light on the end of the HASP key is lit and plugged in to the correct USB port. If it is and eXtyles continues to inform you that your license is expired, please review and try the following possible solutions:


1. Reboot

Occasionally, your computer may "forget" that there is a piece of hardware attached to your USB port. Restarting your computer may help.


2. Update HASP drivers

You may have to update your HASP drivers if you have recently upgraded your Windows operating system. To reinstall the HASP drivers, please follow these instructions:

  1. Download the HASP drivers from http://www.extyles.com/drivers/HASP_drivers_latest.zip
  2. Make sure your HASP hardware key is attached to a USB port on the PC
  3. Unzip the downloaded drivers from step 1; inside the resulting folder Sentinel_HASP_Run-time_setup, double-click the file "HASPUserSetup.exe"
  4. Reboot your PC (at this point, a red light should be glowing on the end of the hardware key)

3. HASP hardware key or USB port may be broken

Try attaching the HASP hardware key to a different USB port on your computer. If your HASP hardware key does not light up on any of the USB ports, and you have already re-installed the HASP drivers, please contact eXtyles-support@inera.com.


4. Avoid opening Word from Outlook

It has been reported that opening a Word document directly from an email in Microsoft Outlook prevents eXtyles from loading. Instead, you might see a message indicating that your eXtyles license has expired. This behavior has been reported for only Windows 8 and Windows 10. Inera is still investigating this bug. In the meantime, you can simply save your Word document locally and then open the file from that location or from Word.


5. Confirm the expiration date of the HASP hardware key

Your HASP hardware key may be configured with an incorrect expiration date. To check the expiration date of your hardware key license, please follow these instructions:

  1. Make sure you have administrator privileges on the PC
  2. Open a command prompt window 
  3. Point the directory to c:\Program Files\eXtyles (or Program Files (x86) if 64-bit Windows). You can do this by entering "cd c:\Program Files\eXtyles" or "cd c:\Program Files (x86)\eXtyles" without the quotation marks.
  4. Enter: Copykey -g 
  5. Create a screen shot of the resulting alert and email it to eXtyles-support@inera.com so we can make sure it's the right end-date


I am using a software key license

If you are using a software key license (i.e., not a hardware key license) and eXtyles warns you that your eXtyles license is expired, the issue may be resolved by one of the following solutions. Contact eXtyles-support@inera.com if the problem persists after trying these solutions.


1. Avoid opening Word from Outlook

It has been reported that opening a Word document directly from an email in Microsoft Outlook prevents eXtyles from loading. Instead, you might see a message indicating that your eXtyles license has expired. This behavior has been reported for only Windows 8 and Windows 10. Inera is still investigating this bug. In the meantime, you can simply save your Word document locally and then open the file from that location or from Word.


2. Add eXtyles to your Trusted Locations

In some cases, Word's security settings prevent the program from identifying the security certificate associated with eXtyles, and as a result, you may see the "License Expired" message.

If you experience this problem, please do the following to continue running eXtyles:

If you are running Word 2016:

From the File tab on the Word ribbon, click: Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Locations → Add new location...

  • Add the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\STARTUP\ if you are running 64-bit Windows
  • Add the path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\STARTUP\ if you are running 32-bit Windows

If you are running Word 2013:

From the File tab on the Word ribbon, click: Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Locations → Add new location...

  • Add the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\STARTUP\ if you are running 64-bit Windows
  • Add the path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\STARTUP\ if you are running 32-bit Windows

If you are running Word 2010:

From the File tab on the Word ribbon, click: Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Locations → Add new location...

  • Add the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\STARTUP\ if you are running 64-bit Windows
  • Add the path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\STARTUP\ if you are running 32-bit Windows

If you are running Word 2007:

Click the Microsoft Office Button, then click: Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings → Trusted Locations → Add new location...

  • Add the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\STARTUP\ if you are running 64-bit Windows
  • Add the path C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\STARTUP\ if you are running 32-bit Windows
