If you see an error message that reads "omnivm.exe has stopped working," and the eXtyles ribbon is inactive, please try the following:

  1. Restart Word.
  2. Confirm that the eXtyles ribbon is appearing.
  3. Then bring up the Windows Task Manager and look at the Processes tab.
  4. Confirm that omnivm.exe is listed. If it is not, please review the following possible causes.

Remove omnivm.exe from Virus Scanner quarantine

During updates, some virus scanners quarantine omnivm.exe, a critical eXtyles file, as “malicious” due to their updated definitions. If you don’t see omnivm.exe in the directory C:\Program Files\eXtyles, follow your antivirus application’s instructions for removing this items from quarantine.

Ensure read/exec privileges on C:\Program Files\eXtyles

Re-install eXtyles
